ABOUT

Save Green Meadows West

We are owners and residents of the Green Meadows West area, committed to protecting our community's best interests. We welcome change that enhances our community but are firmly opposed to excessive development in our neighborhood, especially at the expense of neighboring residents’ views, safety, value, and privacy.

This project is on the corner of President Avenue and 235th Street and is currently under review by the City. We are uniting to express our concerns about the proposed construction of this RV park which will harm the safety of our quiet neighborhood, overcrowd our area with traffic, and negatively affect the privacy and property values of neighboring residents of this RV park. The property has been leased since 1921 (over 100 years) by the Brea Canon Oil Company to drill oil and gas. It is questionable whether this property is even environmentally safe to have anything developed on it. The surrendered area was recently purchased in November 2023 by the new owners who are now are trying to move forward to build a 46 unit RV park (recently modified to 39 unit) with no notice to our neighborhood, that allows day to day, weekly and monthly to long term rentals. The developer also wants to build this RV park and allow older RV's to camp and/or live at the location with pets.   Acting now is crucial, and your opposition will only be officially recognized if you submit it directly to the City in writing. Emailed oppositions are permitted. We will post links and resources as they become available, but working together to oppose this project is key.

We can prevent this project from overstepping the limits of our neighborhood's visual appeal and to prevent our property values from dramatically declining. This proposed RV Park will add safety concerns to our community and neighboring areas, not just Green Meadows West. There is other similarly situated properties within 1 mile of this property. It is our hope that our neighborhoods objection to this project will set a precedent for similar developers who wish to build at the expense of other neighbors losing their value.

This could transform our open and spacious community into an area where homes are built with little regard
for neighbors' views, safety, privacy, or property value.

This developer testified at the hearing on Councilman McOsker’s Motion on June 26, 2024 (which temporarily stopped this project), that he has 30 families ready to “move in.” This begs the question of whether this project is truly an “RV Park” for vacationers (as advertised) or is it more like a “RV Lot” for permanent low-income housing that is taking advantage of the housing crisis, and under the guise of a “Public Benefit.” What is the “Public Benefit” of an RV Park in a residential neighborhood anyhow? The problem lies with the City’s poorly written Municipal Codes that allowed this project to happen in the first place without any notice or consideration to surrounding people that it will be affecting. If you weigh the pros and cons of whether this is RV Park is a Public Benefit, and based upon this developer’s past project, you will find that the cons outweigh the pros. We must take action now.

Your presence and opposition to the project is vital to ensuring the City clarifies the Municipal Codes that allowed for this project to fly under the radar and create solid and enforceable Codes that protect neighborhoods from these RV Parks being developed in the middle of quiet residential neighborhoods.
